About Spirit Animal
Spirit Animal Apparel is a South African streetwear brand which is rooted in promoting a youth street culture that dominates the positive mind-sets of our youth.
Spirit Animal is the brainchild of Floyd Phokane who is the founder of the brand. The brand was started in 2021 after Phokane saw a gap in his local community for a locally owned brand for the youth by the youth that is of top quality and also gather young local designers in my hometownso they showcase their talents that will reach millions of people through teamwork, perseverance and ambition.
Vision
Spirit Animal apparel aims to become one of the big players in streetwear brand locally and in due time on the African Continent.
To inspire the youth into having a spirit of never giving up on their dreams no matter how scary they are through creative design, innovation and affordable pricing.
Mission
Our mission is to continue growing, learn as much as we possibly can about the industry, to accept knocks and continue to rebuild and restructure.
To have a full team that is comprised of ambitious and team player individuals that will take the brand to greater heights.
Meet The Founder
EARLY LIFE AND INSPIRATION
Floyd Phokane was born and raised in Mabotsha, a village in Burgersfort Limpopo. His upbringing played a significant role in shaping his passion for business and fashion as he was born a very shy young boy, an introvert of note who got home from school, watched tv and the only thing that made sure he had to leave the house was soccer and herding his grandmother’s livestock. Him spending a lot of time watching TV by himself introduced him to music and art.
ENTREPRENEURAL SPIRIT
Phokane grew around entrepreneurs, he was raised by his bricklayer grandmother and he’d often assist her for pocket money, his mom who is unfortunately late was a self established dressmaker, his father and big brother are also well known entrepreneurs around his hometown so the motivation started from right at home.
He is actively involved in initiatives to support and empower not only entrepreneurs but he also supports sporting activities in his township.
